This recipe originates from a dear relative of mine, Stacy K., who makes it every year for a Christmas snack. My mother snagged the recipe from her in 1996, and I recently made it for the first time. It is a nearly effortless preparation, and a wonderfully savory nibble.
If you want to halve this recipe (and make only one bag of oyster crackers), reduce the cooking time by about 20 minutes. The goal is to bake the crackers until they are golden brown, not dark brown or burned.
- 2 packages oyster crackers
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 packet Ranch dressing mix
- 1 teaspoon dill weed
- 1 teaspoon lemon pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, stir together all ingredients until the oyster crackers are well coated.
Spread the crackers in a shallow baking dish.
Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown.
